Look on page 76, Fall 2014 Issue !
I got an email inquiry back in June from the fine folks at Equestrian Quarterly Magazine...a beautiful, gold medal Style & Living publication. I am honored to be included in this fall issue! Thanks to Stephanie Peters who wrote a really nice piece about me and my work. I am forever grateful to the wonderfully talented people at Equestrian Quarterly. ( look on page 76, Fall 2014 Issue)

off the beaten path..
Thursday, June 19, 2014
Went back to my Wednesday drawing group last night in Buckhead...always good to workout the drawing muscles and stay limber. I have to say that I really enjoy the quick sketches with short poses better. I personally have a tendency to overwork a sketch if given enough time to do so. I'm looking forward to next weeks challenge!

work in progress
This is a work in progress that I plan to add a few collage elements to...there is a tendency to want to correct certain areas, but I really like the "thinking lines" and "imperfections",..random marks of human character.

New collage piece
This is a new piece titled The Hieyelander, a collage on Masonite board made with the hand-painted paper that I spoke of in my last post. I've been using gouache and acrylic. The acrylic lays down with a more consistent tone, but the gouache makes surprises on the paper...it puddles and runs like watercolor, but dries nice and flat and slightly textured. I am pleased.

More monotypes on a small press at The Studio Upstairs
...Really enjoy making these...very spontaneous and graphic and it's a social event when working in another artists studio space...reminds me of that early collaboration in art school...casual - not pressured...that makes for an atmosphere of creativity. It has been a long winter living inside of my own head in my studio space, making art around professional peers has been a mentally healthy and productive experience.

monotypes on a small press at The Studio Upstairs
I'm back in the groove after finishing a whole week of presstime. Altogether, I 've made about 15 monotype prints...and every night, I think about what I can try tomorrow..it is an addictive process printmaking.
